IMPLEMENTATION

Delivered in 90 days.
Trusted without a restart.

Most CMDB projects take 12–18 months and still produce data nobody trusts. Avennorth delivers a living, confidence-scored CMDB in 90 days — or we continue until it is done at no additional cost.

DELIVERY TIMELINE

Four phases. One 90-day commitment.

Every phase has defined deliverables and measurable proof points. You always know where you are in the delivery.

Phase 1Week 1–3

Foundation

ServiceNow connectors live. Agents packaged and staging-validated. Audit chain active.

WHAT HAPPENS
  • 1Kickoff, environment scoping, and full endpoint OS inventory
  • 2ServiceNow CMDB connector deployment (patent-pending integration layer)
  • 3CSDM schema alignment and CI class mapping
  • 4Agent packages compiled and signed for Windows, Linux, and macOS
  • 5Agents staged to an isolated cohort and telemetry validated end-to-end before production rollout
  • 6Platform audit chain initialized and hash-chaining verified
PHASE DELIVERABLE

Platform connectors live. Agents tested, signed, and cleared for production deployment. Audit chain active.

Phase 2Week 4–10

Discovery

Agents deployed across production in cohorts. CIs observed, confidence-scored, and populating the CMDB continuously.

WHAT HAPPENS
  • 1Cohort rollout via MDM/SCCM/Ansible — kernel-level eBPF/ETW telemetry active, validated per cohort before the next
  • 2Agent coverage reaches 90%+ of manageable endpoints across primary and secondary segments
  • 3Agentless passive observation fills gaps where agents can't deploy (appliances, printers, legacy hosts)
  • 4Agent and agentless signals converge into deduplicated CI records with calibrated confidence scoring
  • 5AI-narrated merge decisions reviewed and approved by the client team; edge cases surfaced for judgement
  • 6Bearing health-score baselines established across the first CI cohort
PHASE DELIVERABLE

Agent-based behavioral telemetry active across production. First trusted CI population with confidence scores and health dimension data. Merge queue live and reviewed.

Phase 3Week 11–13

CMDB Live

Living CMDB handed over. Service maps active. Continuous refresh running.

WHAT HAPPENS
  • 1Contour service dependency maps auto-generated from discovered CI relationships
  • 2Blast radius analysis validated against known change history
  • 3Vantage incident intelligence connected to live CMDB (Professional and above)
  • 4Compass executive personas configured for stakeholder group (Professional and above)
  • 5Full CMDB validation workshop with client team
  • 6Handover to continuous operation mode — platform runs without further PS involvement
PHASE DELIVERABLE

First quality, trusted CMDB. Living service maps. Continuous discovery active.

OngoingDay 91+

Continuous

Continuous discovery. CMDB stays current. Intelligence active.

WHAT HAPPENS
  • 1Pathfinder agents run on continuous cycle — every environmental change surfaces as a delta
  • 2Bearing rescores affected CIs automatically when agent-sourced signals change
  • 3Contour updates service maps in response to relationship changes
  • 4Vantage draws on current CMDB state for every P1 incident
  • 5Platform health monitoring and alerting managed by Avennorth
  • 6Quarterly confidence calibration review included in engagement
PHASE DELIVERABLE

A CMDB that stays trusted without manual effort.

YOUR SIDE OF THE ENGAGEMENT

What you need to bring.

Minimal. Intentionally. The platform is designed to work with imperfect documentation and incomplete existing tooling — that is the starting point, not a blocker.

ServiceNow access

Admin or sub-admin credentials to the target ServiceNow instance. We will operate within the CSDM schema — no custom tables required.

Endpoint management access

Access to your MDM, SCCM, or Ansible environment to push agent packages to target endpoints. For segments where agents cannot be deployed, read access to the network segment is sufficient for passive agentless observation. No credentials are stored — agent authentication is ephemeral.

A named internal champion

One IT or ITSM lead who can attend weekly progress reviews, approve CI merge decisions, and validate CMDB scope against business requirements.

Environment documentation

Whatever network diagrams, CMDB exports, or architecture documentation you have — even if incomplete or out of date. We will validate against what we discover, not assume what you hand us.

SUPPORT MODEL

Included. Not an add-on.

Every tier includes the support model needed to make the delivery succeed. There is no Bronze/Silver/Gold support tier. Support is part of the engagement.

Dedicated delivery partner

You have a named Avennorth implementation partner throughout the 90-day engagement. One person, one point of contact, one accountability.

Weekly progress reviews

30-minute structured reviews covering: CIs discovered this week, confidence scores, merge decisions awaiting approval, any environment anomalies flagged by Pathfinder.

Merge decision transparency

Every AI-narrated CI merge decision is surfaced for client review before it is committed to the CMDB. You see the evidence, the confidence score, and the assumed facts — not just the outcome.

Post-handover support

Platform health monitoring included for all tiers post-handover. SLA-backed response times for platform issues. Quarterly confidence calibration review included in the engagement.

WHY THIS IS DIFFERENT

The root cause of every failed CMDB project.

TRADITIONAL APPROACH
Discovery runs once
A snapshot is taken, loaded, and immediately begins to drift.
No agent strategy
Agentless scan only — shallow telemetry, no behavioral signal, low data confidence.
Manual service mapping
Diagrams are created during implementation and never updated.
Trust degrades quickly
Data quality drops. Teams stop relying on the CMDB. It becomes a compliance artefact, not an operational asset.
Re-implementation cycle
12–18 months and $500K+ later, the project starts again.
AVENNORTH APPROACH
Agent-first behavioral telemetry
Pathfinder agents deployed in cohorts deliver kernel-level eBPF/ETW signals — the richest possible discovery source. Agentless fills the gaps for endpoints that cannot take agents.
Staged agent rollout with validation gates
Agents are packaged, signed, and staging-validated before production deployment. Each cohort is confirmed before the next rolls out.
Auto-generated service maps
Contour builds service maps from discovered relationships — updated automatically when relationships change.
Confidence scoring maintains trust
Agent-sourced signals produce far higher confidence bands than agentless alone. Trust scores reflect signal richness, not just presence.
90-day delivery, not 18-month project
The platform is operational before you could finish scoping a traditional CMDB project.

90 days to a CMDB your team trusts.

Book a scoping call and we’ll walk through what your specific environment looks like in each phase — with expected CI counts, confidence-score projections, and a milestone schedule.
